BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A Lehigh Valley tradition filled with the vibrant sounds and flavors of Latin culture is back this weekend.
The 14th annual Sabor Festival features everything from live music to delicious food vendors and more.
It’s all happening at Artsquest in Bethlehem where the festival kicks off Thursday night.
The annual celebration begins with a screening of a special film.
“We are going to present the movie, ‘Our Latin Thing.’ It was filmed back in 1971 by the legendary Fania All-Stars, which I would say is like the Hispanic Motown of music,” describes Miguel Pérez, ArtsQuest Latin Programming Committee.
That screening will be followed up by a performance by Clave Legacy, a Latin-Jazz and Salsa fusion band. More exciting acts are scheduled throughout the weekend.
“The Women of Salsa on Friday night and Plena Libre, the two headliners are really going to deliver exceptional shows that we’re looking forward to,” says Patrick Brogan, chief programming officer for ArtsQuest.
Beyond the music, the festival will also feature delicious food and other activities.
“I’m always looking forward to the shows at Sabor. This year with a couple new food vendors at the festival,” Brogan continued to say of his excitement.
Vendors like La Frikitona, Fiesta Churros, and newcomer Mozzarepas.
“We do mofongo, which is the Smash plantain with salt and garlic. We do the pork chops, like camp pork chops. We also have the tostones and the loaded sweet plantains and pastelios,” says Armando Rodriguez, LA Frikitona LLC Food Vendor.
