VIERA – With nearly seven million Americans currently living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, brain health has never been more important.
On Monday, July 28 at 2 p.m., One Senior Place in Viera will host The Brain-Healthy Lifestyle: What the Research Shows — a free panel discussion designed to share the latest insights into how everyday habits can support long-term cognitive function.
Located at 8085 Spyglass Hill Road, One Senior Place is a marketplace for senior resources and services. The event will feature three local experts in dementia care and research: Deidra Shubert of Flourish Research, Dorinda Hill of the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, and Rebecca Osgood of Health First’s Memory Disorder Clinic.
Topics will include the impact of diet, brain training games, mental wellness technology, and daily routines shown to promote brain health. A question-and-answer session will follow, offering the public a chance to engage directly with the panelists.
“This will be an important discussion for everyone interested in brain health,” said Shubert, who co-chairs the Dementia Care and Cure Initiative (DCCI) in Brevard and is a longtime advocate for the Alzheimer’s Association. “Alzheimer’s and other dementia cases in the U.S. continue to rise, yet there are everyday choices we can be making now that significantly contribute to better cognitive health and function.”
Shubert brings over a decade of experience in dementia clinical research and behavioral gerontology. She is joined by Dorinda Hill, the Education and Outreach Director for the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, who has spent more than 15 years supporting families and individuals affected by memory loss. Also presenting is Rebecca Osgood, Community Educator for Health First’s Memory Disorder Clinic and a specialist in caregiver education and gerontology.
