Rouse earns degree from Central Methodist University
FAYETTE, Mo. — Central Methodist University celebrated its Winter 2025 commencement on Dec. 6 in Puckett Fieldhouse on the Fayette campus.
Business owner and author Rogers Strickland gave the commencement address as a packed house of family, friends, faculty, staff, and other guests celebrated the graduates.
Students were recognized for earning degrees at the master’s, bachelor’s, and associate’s levels.
Kathryn Marie Rouse, of Paragould, was among those on the program for the event. Rouse graduated with the following degree: Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Since its founding in 1854, CMU has evolved into a university that confers master’s, bachelor’s and associate’s degrees through programming on its main campus in Fayette, Mo., and through extension sites and online.
Landon Vangilder of Lafe on NWCC Vice President’s List
SENATOBIA, Miss. — Landon Vangilder of Lafe made it on Northwest’s Vice President’s List for the Fall 2025 semester at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Included on the list are full-time students who completed the semester with a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.74.

Fulbright College awards $5.1M in student scholarships at University of Arkansas
FAYETTEVILLE — Local students were awarded scholarships this fall from the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas.
More than $5.1 million in scholarships was awarded through 3,768 scholarships to students in Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas this year.
Jared Noel of Paragould was awarded the Lawrence Jesser Toll, Jr. Endowed Scholarship.
Rhealyn Schmidt of Walnut Ridge was awarded the Gene E. McKissic Endowed Scholarship.
“Fulbright College’s mission is to provide a transformational education for our students,” said Brian E. Raines, dean of Fulbright College. “The generosity of our supporters allows us to do just that. By alleviating financial strain on students, we empower them to focus on their studies and thrive in their academic endeavors.”
“These students are deserving recipients of this support,” Raines added. “We’re deeply grateful for the chance to recognize their dedication to learning and the meaningful impact they’ve made on both Fulbright College and the wider University of Arkansas community.”
This fall’s scholarships are made possible with the support of donors, including alumni, faculty, staff and friends of Fulbright College, to aid students across the college’s four academic disciplines: arts, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences.
“Supporting our students means addressing their needs in every way: academically, emotionally, mentally, and financially,” Raines said. “None of this would be possible without the generosity of our Fulbright College supporters. Their commitment ensures our students have access to the tools, experiences and opportunities they need to succeed.”
