— Jarrett Vagle, a Dent resident, understands the roadblocks that can keep people stuck in unhealthy patterns. Having twice rebuilt his life after significant crashes, he utilizes personal experience and specialized training to empower people to confront what holds them back so they can flourish.
Vagle, who is a certified narrative coach practitioner with the International Coaching Federation, officially opened
in February. But his business has been 27 years in the making. It all started on a spring evening in 1998 when he was 20 years old. Heading home for a weekend break during college, his motorcycle left the road and struck a tree.
“I should have died,” he said, noting he had several broken bones, a severed artery and nerves that were “torn out of his spinal cord” that resulted in him losing movement and feeling in his right arm.
He woke up in a hospital bed at Mayo Clinic and began a physical healing process that took about five years. After learning to walk again and teaching himself to become left-handed, he studied to become a Realtor.
In the midst of a solid career, the 2008 housing crash took his livelihood, and eventually his house. He found himself asking God why he couldn’t have died in the motorcycle accident.
But again, the son of Mike and Gwen Vagle of Dent persevered. He moved into an apartment, switched gears and got into the IT industry. Through years of hard work, he moved from the basement into management. On the outside, once again, he appeared to be doing well. But, inside, he struggled with low self-worth.
“About seven years ago my mindset shifted,” he said, noting he learned to love himself for who he was in the present. He also saw God was with him every step of the way. And, every challenge he had faced was a building block leading him to his life’s purpose.
His pivoting mindset arrived after coming across podcasts by a renown motivational speaker. The journey led him to devour books and see he could offer similar assistance to people. He had the experience; all he needed was the training. Vagle continued his studies and became a certified narrative coach.

“Everyone has a story that they carry,” he said, adding narrative coaches help clients examine the stories they tell themselves so they can move toward positive change, be it personal or professional growth.
Vagle offers one-on-one and group sessions. He also offers keynote speaker events that focus on motivation and inspiration.
To give people a taste of what a course would be, Vagle launched a free seven-day self-discovery course on his website,
Other courses are also posted, and more are being added, he noted.
Vagle said personal sessions are most often done through Zoom and last an hour. There are a variety of packages available, ranging from three to six months and beyond.
He said the first meeting or two with the client helps him understand his client’s values and beliefs.
“Then every session after that, it’s all their agenda,” he said, noting that means understanding where they are stuck in life and creating a plan to progress.
