Delhi’s air pollution crisis has become a major talking point at the COP29 climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan. With the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) surpassing hazardous levels, the public health issue in India’s capital has drawn international concern. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented Stage-IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), introducing measures like truck entry bans and halting public construction. However, experts argue that local efforts alone are insufficient to tackle the widespread issue. At COP29, Aarti Khosla Founder and Director Of Climate Trends emphasized that a combination of fossil fuel emissions, farm fires, and weather conditions contribute to the crisis, urging global cooperation to address the deadly impacts of air pollution.
