In a world saturated with secular news sources, Christians often struggle to find reporting that aligns with a biblical worldview.
That’s where Answers News comes in — a program on Answers TV that tackles current events through the lens of Scripture. As a co-host, Dr. Georgia Purdom plays a vital role in helping viewers discern truth from cultural noise by offering clear, biblically grounded commentary on today’s most pressing issues.
Purdom, a 1994 Cedarville University graduate, is passionate about equipping others to view science, culture, and society from a biblical perspective. With her co-hosts on Answers News, Purdom analyzes trending headlines and global developments in light of apologetics, helping Christians stay informed without compromising their faith.
“People are constantly bombarded with messages that conflict with Scripture,” Purdom said. “Through Answers News, we show that the Bible has something to say about every aspect of life — even the nightly news.”
Purdom’s journey began with a love for science and a deep faith. She studied biology with a pre-medical emphasis at Cedarville and later earned a doctorate in molecular genetics from The Ohio State University. Her education and love of science led her to join the biology faculty at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, but a verse in the Bible sparked a turning point in her career. After reading 1 Peter 3:15, she realized she could not explain why biblical creation (a literal six-day creation, young Earth and Noah’s Flood) is true and important.
That conviction launched a years-long search. She read widely, attended creation conferences, and explored the intelligent design movement. In time, her passion led her to Answers in Genesis, where she now serves as vice president of educational content and director of research.
In this role, Purdom influences thousands through public speaking, writing and media appearances. But Answers News allows her to directly engage with current events — breaking down complex topics, including science, ethics and social trends, all while pointing viewers back to Scripture.
Her work allows her to bring clarity to the creation conversation and the “why” behind foundational Christian beliefs. Whether she’s speaking, writing books or appearing on Answers News, Purdom is influencing thousands of people.
“After we opened the Ark Encounter, a journalist asked me, ‘You really believe this, don’t you?’ I told him that I did,” said Purdom. “He went on to tell me he appreciated my confidence and passion even though he didn’t agree.”
Purdom’s legacy began at Cedarville University, where she found not only academic preparation but also a spiritual foundation. Today, she’s helping others do the same — teaching people how to think critically and biblically in an increasingly secular world.
