Tri-Valley Cultural Jews, a secular organization for those who identify as Jewish through family, culture and history, will hold a Yom Kippur gathering from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, featuring music, readings and discussions.
Yom Kippur, or Day of Atonement, is considered the holiest day of the year in Judaism.
Rabbi Judith Seid will lead off with a ceremony of repentance and forgiveness, followed by discussions on mental health, governance, education, and endangered species, with participants encouraged to examine how they can impact those issues in the year to come.
The afternoon will conclude with a remembrance, or “nizkor,” ceremony. There will also be quiet activities for children.
The gathering will be in Livermore and reservations are required.
