Having the right experience and qualifications to make a career change can be daunting. Instead of going back to school for a second bachelor’s degree, Cal State Fullerton University Extension offers an alternative for people looking to get into medical or health care school. The Pre-Health Professions Postbaccalaureate Program is the perfect investment for someone who does not have a degree in science.
The Pre-Health Professions Postbaccalaureate Program has two options. The Career Changer Program is geared for students who do not have a background in science and allows them to choose between a full- or part-time schedule. The full-time Academic Finisher Program is for students who have completed a year of biology and chemistry and allows them to finish the remaining medical or health care school requirements.
Faculty from CSUF’s College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics teach all of the courses in this program. Courses follow a cohort model, making it easier to find a community of people going through the same transition in life and offering a consistent class schedule. Students also build a strong network with their professors and peers.
“It is so rewarding to advise future health care professionals in the Pre-Health Professions Postbaccalaureate Program. When students realize that their dream of being admitted into medical or health care school is only one to two years away, they are in awe. They are blown away when they find out we have linkage programs that allow them to plan out the next several years of their life to reach their dream job,” said Brandy Schaal, program adviser.
CSUF University Extension wants to celebrate its Pre-Health Professions Postbaccalaureate students and encourage people who’ve always wanted to be admitted into a medical or health care school to apply.
There has never been a better time for a career change to a pharmacist, doctor, dentist, veterinarian or more. Read more about the program in CSUF University Extension’s Annual Impact Report or visit the website for more details.
