OREM, Utah (KUTV) — Students were moved to online learning for two days after ongoing issues with bats at Cherry Hill Elementary in Orem.
School officials made the decision to have students switch to virtual class Thursday and Friday after bates were discovered in the school earlier in the week.
A licensed wildlife management company was working with the Alpine School District facilities team to clear the school.
Grab & Go lunches were prepared and available for students. The meals were served through the side door of the cafeteria to avoid getting in the way of bat-removal efforts.
A movie night was planned at the school for families to watch the live action version of “How to Train Your Dragon,” but was postponed due to the bat problem.
“Even Toothless doesn’t get along with (bats),” school officials said on a social media post.
The movie was expected to be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced later.
Details about how many bats needed to be removed, or if crews were able to clear all the bats.
School was already out for students on Monday because of a previously-scheduled teacher work day.
