Members of the Chatham Middle School FFA Forestry teams have been working hard and their efforts have paid off. The two teams traveled to White Oak Mountain Oct. 8 for the Pittsylvania FFA Federation Career Development Event (CDE). Team B consisted of Emerson Owen, Kingston Robertson, Annabelle Whitaker and Emily Waller, placed second in the event. Team A, comprised of Aubrey East, Addison Gross, Evan Wellborn and Marcellus Owens, placed first and won the right to compete at the South Ridge Area CDE.
At the Federation CDE, individual place was as follows: First place was Gross, second place was East, third was Owens and fourth was Wellborn.
Team A traveled to Carvins Cove Oct. 14 to compete in the South Ridge Area Forestry CDE where they placed second and earned the right to compete in the Virginia FFA State Forestry CDE at Mountain Gateway Community College in April. Team members placing individually were Gross (second place), Wellborn (third) and East (seventh).
