On 17 November 2024, we mark four years of the global movement to eliminate cervical cancer.
In 2020, 194 countries resolved to eliminate a cancer for the first time and WHO launched the Global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem with a global Day of Action for Cervical Cancer Elimination.
Each year, advocates around the world continue the annual tradition, coming together as governments and partners make new commitments toward achieving the Global Strategy targets, First Ladies mobilize communities to raise awareness, and civil society organize local activities to take action for elimination.
This 17th November, we are rallying voices from around the world to recognize and uplift the contributions of frontline health workers providing lifesaving services to eliminate cervical cancer.
Nurses and frontline health workers are at the forefront of efforts to prevent and treat cervical cancer. They are often the first—and sometimes the only—health professionals people encounter, providing crucial information on vaccines, screening, and treatment. As leaders in the global movement, they help shape the delivery of effective interventions to meet the needs of the women in their communities.
Join them in the movement!
