NORTHFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) – A central Vermont teacher hailed a “life changer.”
Each year, Montpelier-based National Life Group awards 16 educators and their schools across the country with the Lifechanger Award.
Out of hundreds of nominations, Northfield Elementary PE teacher Mike Gonneville was picked Wednesday as a winner.
Gonneville has worked at the school for nearly 50 years and says his true goal is to encourage his students to be successful. “You don’t have to have a lot of money to be successful, but you have to make a difference. That’s the biggest thing I share with them. Make a difference in the lives of others. So, my hope is, as they grow up, I see them do that. I see them learn from what we’ve talked about all these years,” said Gonneville.
Both Gonneville and his school were awarded $2,500 each.
