BENNINGTON — The Bennington County Multicultural Community Center will host its second Film and Food night on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Bennington Theater, 331 Main St.
Enjoy Venezuelan dishes made by members of the local Venezuelan community, a screening of the film “Simón,” and a discussion following the film led by members of the local Venezuelan community.
This screening is the second in a three part series the Multicultural center is hosting. The first evening held in late September celebrated Afghanistan and the third will focus on the Democratic Republic of Congo. The featured countries were selected because they are represented in the local refugee community.
“Through the refugee resettlement process, Bennington has welcomed people from around the world,” said Jack Rossiter-Munley Director of Programs and Community Engagement for the Center. “This screening series is one small way we can lift up the voices of those who are building new lives here in Bennington.”
Tickets will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $25. All proceeds will benefit the work of the Bennington County Multicultural Community Center, which is a branch office of the refugee resettlement agency ECDC. This screening is made possible through a grant from Vermont Humanities. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., food will be available, and the screening will begin at 6 p.m.
