The Carnegie Corporation of New York has announced a $3 million grant to the National Education Equity Lab (Ed Equity Lab) in support of efforts to accelerate the path to economic mobility for low-income high school students.

The Ed Equity Lab partners with top colleges to offer college-credit bearing courses and other resources for low-income high school classrooms at no cost to students. The organization works with a consortium of institutions, including Stanford University, the Wharton School, University of California (all campuses), Cornell University, and the University of Notre Dame. Since its launch in 2019, the nonprofit has served more than 40,000 scholars across 32 states.

“We are deeply grateful to Carnegie Corporation of New York for their early belief in our mission and their continued partnership in advancing economic mobility for students across the country,” said Ed Equity Lab founder and CEO Leslie Cornfeld. “This grant will empower thousands of talented students from low-income high schools to earn widely transferable college credits from some of the nation’s leading colleges and universities—helping to level the playing field and open doors to opportunity. This grant will also hopefully inspire others to reach out to us, and help us meet the demand for this opportunity for rural and urban communities across the country.”
