RED BLUFF – Businesses will abound to present new opportunities to high school seniors at the second annual Salisbury Career Day on Oct. 18.
“We are really letting our students see the variety of paths they can go down. Not everyone is college-driven and this helps them understand that it’s OK. You can be successful in anything you choose as long as you have determination and drive,” said Tammie Williams, Student Service Technician for Salisbury High School.
“Salisbury Career Day is a day where we bring in local businesses, trade schools and some colleges to go over what is out there in the real world when our students graduate,” Williams added.
The casual event boasts music, booths, games and also some swag. The event, which takes place from 10:40 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. is open to high school students only. Booths will be provided for students to receive a “passport.” The passports are signed by visiting organizations. Students have the opportunity to ponder why they might be interested in a particular job path or career.
Williams said last year’s event was quite successful. “We had 14 vendors last year, from SPI Crains to KNVN and Results Radio,” she said.
Salisbury High School has been serving students for more than 40 years.
“The Salisbury staff believes that we have the responsibility to see to it that our students have all the educational opportunities that we are able to provide for them. But more than this, is the fact we are concerned first with the students as individuals. Salisbury provides a student-centered learning environment in which staff works closely with students one-on-one,” according to its website.
Salisbury High School in Red Bluff primarily serves high school juniors and seniors ages 16 and older.
