These were concrete and substantial discussions. At the University of Zielona Góra, the international scientific conference titled “Development in Business, Finance and Management” took place. The main focus was on finance, business, and management. Experts from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany engaged in debates on all these topics. Students from UZ also participated in the conference. The event was organized by the Institute of Management and Quality Sciences at UZ.
“For us, this is an exchange of experiences and insights in the fields of digitalization and new technologies. Experts are analyzing their impact on finance, business management, and accounting” said Prof. Wojciech Strzyżewski, Rector of the University of Zielona Góra. “I am pleased that this is yet another international conference featuring a group of highly specialized professionals in the fields of finance and economics, as well as certified auditors. Especially since, starting this academic year, we have launched a new program—Finance and Accounting” added Prof. Wojciech Strzyżewski.
On the first day of the conference, discussions included topics such as corporate income tax, macroeconomic factors influencing business performance within the EU-27, as well as bankruptcy and forecasting using AI. Thursday’s agenda included subjects such as professional burnout—the condition of academic staff at universities in 2025—and selected issues regarding the use of Standard Audit Files for management reporting. The latter topic was presented by Piotr Ostręga from the Polish Chamber of Certified Auditors, Regional Office in Zielona Góra.
“As certified auditors engaged in the audit of financial statements, we are highly interested in this subject. We need to thoroughly understand these issues, to be aware of the market situation and its environment. The past few years have not been favorable for business. Events related to COVID, the war in Ukraine, and developments in U.S. politics—all of these factors make business quite unpredictable” explained Piotr Ostręga. “It’s currently very difficult to prepare a financial statement that can confirm a lack of risk to the continuation of a company’s operations. In the past, companies made forecasts for three to five years. Now it’s hard to predict anything beyond one year” added the representative of the Polish Chamber of Certified Auditors.
During the two-day conference, a cooperation agreement was also signed between the University of Zielona Góra and NEWTON University in Prague. What joint activities will both universities focus on? “This cooperation will involve both students and staff—not just in the form of exchanges. We will also implement joint educational and research projects. We aim to organize conferences together as well” said Dr. Hab. Eng. Anna Saniuk, Prof. UZ from the Faculty of Legal and Economic Sciences.
The scientific committee of the “Development in Business, Finance and Management” conference included, among others: the University of Zielona Góra, NEWTON University in Prague, the Silesian University of Technology, South East European University, University of West Bohemia, University of Zagreb, Wrocław University of Economics and Business, University of Applied Sciences, and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
