Corpus Christi Church in Buffalo celebrated its 46th Dożynki Polish Harvest Festival with music, dancing, and homemade food.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Corpus Christi Church in Buffalo celebrated its 46th Dożynki Polish Harvest Festival on Saturday.
The annual event brought together families and neighbors to honor Buffalo’s Polish heritage with traditional music, dancing, and — of course — plenty of homemade food.
Beverly Sikora of Corpus Christi Church talked with 2 On Your Side about the significance of the annual event.
“Its a time for everyone to come together and celebrate with great food, and our Polish culture, and mostly to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. Hence, the name ‘Dożynki,’ which means ‘Thanksgiving,’ ” Sikora said during the festivities.
The festival is a longtime tradition at the historic Clark Street Parish, celebrating community, culture, and the bounty of the harvest season.
If you still want some delicious Polish food, you’re in luck. The event starts back up again for one final festival day on Sunday.
Founded in 1898, Corpus Christi Church is a cornerstone of Buffalo’s Historic Polonia neighborhood, recognized as a historic site at both the state and national levels.
