BEMIDJI — The Bemidji 31 Education Foundation Fund has announced its fall 2024 grant award recipients. The education fund awards annual grants to Independent School District 31 teachers through a competitive application and review process.
There were 36 grant applications received with requests totaling over $37,000. More than $14,000 was awarded to 27 applicants for various classrooms and projects throughout the Bemidji area.
- Bemidji Middle School: Calculators, decoy carving supplies and flexible seating.
- Gene Dillon Elementary: Flexible seating, 3D printer, art supplies and books for X-steam.
- Horace May Elementary: 3D printer and neurodiversity-inclusive classroom supplies.
- J.W. Smith Elementary: Letter boards and iPads.
- Bemidji High School: Math curriculum, BHS choral library, regulation tools for students, assistive technology for inclusion, health classroom supplies and practical assessment exploration system lab incentives.
- Lincoln Elementary: Regulation tools for students, classroom TV and playground equipment.
- Bemidji Middle School: Family and consumer science classroom supplies and classroom books.
- First City School: Recreation equipment and library updates.
- Lakeside Learning Center: A school store.
- Lumberjack High School: A field trip.
“We are committed to supporting educational opportunities for students at Bemidji Area Schools, but need ongoing financial support to continue at this pace,” Jeff Haack, chair of the Bemidji 31 Education Foundation Fund, said in a release. “Each year, we receive more applications from educators trying to improve their classroom experience. We invite supporters of our schools to donate to the cause.”
The Bemidji 31 Education Foundation Fund has given 87 grant awards totaling over $51,000 throughout the last five grant periods.
