The Beach Haven Public Library presents the program “Coastal Stewardship: Improving the Health of Barnegat Bay” on Thursday, April 24 at 2 p.m.
Guest speaker Douglas Zemeckis will discuss how to be a more responsible steward of coastal marine resources and how to get involved with local efforts to improve the health of Barnegat Bay and other marine ecosystems in New Jersey. Shellfish biology, restoration and aquaculture will be used as the primary teaching tools about estuarine ecology and coastal stewardship.
Zemeckis serves as a county agent II (associate professor) with Rutgers Cooperative Extension. In this role, he conducts educational programming and applied research to address local issues related to fisheries, aquaculture and marine resources management in Ocean, Atlantic, and Monmouth counties.
