The autumnal equinox arrives today, Monday September 22 at 8:20 a.m., marking the official start of fall in the Northern Hemisphere and the day when daylight and nighttime hours are nearly equal across the globe.
For many, the equinox signals cooler days and the turning of the seasons.
But here on Key Biscayne, while summer may be officially over, our weather still feels much the same; warm, tropical, and often rainy.
The equinox is also a moment of balance. On this day, the sun rises almost exactly due east and sets due west, something you can spot right here on the Island.
So, while the calendar says autumn has arrived, life on Key Biscayne continues with its Island-Paradise, endless-summer feel, palm trees swaying, afternoon thunderstorms rolling through, and beach days very much still on the agenda.
