A Road Together (ART) awarded 25 arts and culture nonprofits across Chicago general operating grants totaling $2.85 million over the next three years. This is the third cohort of grantees in the five-year partnership between MacArthur and the Field Foundation. In a milestone for the program, this year all grants are multi-year support to help strengthen Chicago’s cultural identity, economy, and social fabric.
This year all grants are multi-year support to help strengthen Chicago’s cultural identity, economy, and social fabric.
A panel of Chicago artists and cultural leaders selected this year’s recipients through a participatory grantmaking process, based on criteria including community engagement, relevance, and impact to recommend grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 annually over three years. Since it began, ART has distributed general operating support to 156 community-based arts and culture organizations, including arts-centered social service groups and community organizers, with budgets up to $1 million.
