PHOENIX (KVOA) – The Arizona Department of Education (AZED) has launched a new webpage to track the compliance of school districts and charter operators with federal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) guidelines.
The page comes amid ongoing court challenges. The U.S. Department of Education has indicated that no further actions regarding the DEI Title VI Certification will be taken until further notice.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne emphasized a commitment to transparency and legal compliance.
“I am committed to following the law and will abide by the latest guidance from the U.S. Department of Education to take no action against schools until further notice,” Horne said.
Horne expressed his belief that the DEI guidance aligns with his philosophy against racial discrimination.
“I believe the DEI guidance will eventually be upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court and districts and charter schools need to treat this issue seriously,” Horne said.
