INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis-based Afrobeats artist O1 The Great is set to perform at a block party on July 19th, opening for Nigerian Afrobeat star Falz.
The event, known as Block Party Volume 2, aims to bring a vibrant cultural experience to the Indianapolis community. O1 The Great has been instrumental in promoting the Afrobeats scene in the city, which has seen significant growth.
“It’s a great journey so far,” O1 The Great said about the growth of the Afrobeats scene in Indianapolis. “The goal is to introduce this culture to all people.”
O1 The Great emphasized the importance of making the Afrobeats culture accessible to everyone, regardless of their background. “It’s not just for Africans,” he noted, highlighting the inclusive nature of the events and music.
The artist is excited to perform alongside Falz, a well-known artist in Africa, to attract a diverse audience. “We’re bringing him here to pull in that audience so that people that are interested in the culture can come and enjoy the vibe,” he explained.
In addition to performing at the block party, O1 The Great has been busy creating new music. His latest single, ‘Soco,’ captures the energetic and danceable vibe of summer. “If you want to have a great time with your friends, dance, have a little drink and just like have fun, like this is the perfect song for the summer,” he said.
