SHREVEPORT, La. — A now former Caddo Parish teacher has been arrested in connection with charges related alleged improper conduct with a student.
David Hoey, 60, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of computer-aided solicitation of a minor and indecent behavior with a juvenile.
David Hoey was last year’s New Teacher of the Year.
Hoey was named New Teacher of the Year at Broadmoor STEM Academy in Shreveport in 2023.
Hoey was arrested Oct. 28 in cooperation with the Caddo Parish School District. The district has since fired Hoey.
The Caddo Parish School Board released the following statement: “We are aware of the recent allegations involving a former employee of Broadmoor STEM Academy. The charges are deeply troubling and do not reflect the values, standards or commitment to safety that we uphold within our district. We want to assure our community and all stakeholders that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Upon learning of the investigation, the district took immediate action in full cooperation with law enforcement, resulting in the termination of this individual’s employment. We continue to work closely with authorities to support their ongoing investigation.”
“Shreveport police are committed to maintaining a safe environment for all students and will continue to work closely with Caddo Parish Schools to ensure the protection of our community’s youth,” Cpl. Chris Bordelon said in a news release Monday.
