NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The North Syracuse Central School District will have a new Superintendent of Schools starting in 2025. After a search conducted by OCM BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Matt Cook, staff and community surveys, as well as focus groups, it was announced Dr. Terry Ward will take on this new position.
Dr. Ward has served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Cato-Meridian Central School District for more than six years. He also has been recognized for his work on an award-winning diversity, equity, and inclusion plan, as well as many financial strategies and educational goals he can bring to improve NSCSD.
“His proven track record of advancing academic excellence, commitment to students and staff and engagement with the community align seamlessly with our district’s mission and values. We are confident Dr. Ward will help lead to a successful future,” Said Board President Michael A. Mirizio.
Dr. Ward will officially take over on January 6th, 2025 from Interim Superintendent Michael A. Schiedo. The hiring of Dr.Ward comes after former Superintendent Daniel D. Bowles retired in August 2024. NSCSD shares its excitement for the new Superintendent with great enthusiasm, and gratitude for Schiedo’s work as interim.
