Tell us about your educational highlight, honor, or accomplishment. What is it and how did you do it?
“I made All State Choir my sophomore and junior years of high school. I have greatly improved my musical skills and learned so many great techniques, qualities, and abilities through preparing for and performing in the All State Choir. The All State camps and preparation of music, the audition process of joining the choir, and the performance and production of the choir have all been a part of the process that led me to become a quality musician. I spent many hours practicing and rehearsing selected pieces to gain great knowledge about the music. Then, I went through a series of auditions that slimmed the amount of honored members of the choir. Finally, I joined the choir through three days of practice to perform the final day at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.”
Why is this accomplishment important to you?
“Music itself has impacted me in many ways such as increased self confidence, developed musical and leadership skills, and many other items I have not come to realize yet. I truly enjoy music and the abilities I have gained to perform it. The music I sing and play is very important to me, so being able to showcase it is a very special honor to me.”
How much did you have to work to accomplish this goal or honor?
“I have spent hours and hours in practice, voice lessons, and singing performances. I have really enjoyed this experience but it was a lot of work and a big commitment of time.”
What plans do you have for the future?
“My plans are to go to college and get a music education degree so I can share my passion with the next generation. I am undecided on the university. However, I plan to excel through collegiate choral and band experience.”
