Clayton Kershaw looks on prior to Game 1 of the NLDS against the Giants at Oracle Park on October 08, 2021.
There have been few players in recent baseball history who have made a bigger impact on their respective franchise than Clayton Kershaw has made with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
For years, Kershaw has been the face of the franchise. Even last season, in a diminished role, Kershaw was a huge part of the team’s success. Shohei Ohtani may be the face of the team, but the longtime superstar pitcher was still the clubhouse leader.
Unfortunately, fans have seen their last of Kershaw on the mound. After winning a second straight World Series championship, he has decided to ride off into the sunset of retirement.
Now, the question becomes, what does the chapter after baseball look like for Kershaw? What could he choose to do with playing baseball no longer in the picture?
Major News Emerges About the Future of Los Angeles Dodgers Legend Clayton Kershaw
Keeping that question in mind, a new update has been shared about one route Kershaw could choose to take to begin his post-playing career days.
According to a report from The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, Kershaw has become a top target for NBC in a role of being a stuido analyst for Sunday Night Baseball.
Kershaw would be an excellent fit for an analyst role. He has always been elite at talking baseball throughout his career. Making that change to doing it professional would suit him well.
In that role, Kershaw would be able to share more of his baseball knowledge with the rest of the world. He would also bring great entertainment value for NBC. On the outside looking in, it looks like a match made in heaven.
Whether or not Kershaw is seriously considering the option or not remains to be seen. However, this is an option worth keeping an eye on for him.
Looking Back at Clayton Kershaw’s Career With the Dodgers
Kershaw spent his entire Major League Baseball career in Los Angeles. He played from the 2008 season through 2025 with the Dodgers.
During that time span, Kershaw made 451 starts and appeared in 455 total games. He compiled a 223-96 record to go along with a 2.53 career ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, a 4.3 K/BB ratio, 3,052 total strikeouts, and 2,855.1 innings pitched.
Those numbers share a glimpse at just how dominant Kershaw was throughout his career. Few pitchers could dream of having the career that he was able to put together.
Moving into the 2026 MLB season, Los Angeles is going to miss Kershaw. He may not be the player that he once was, but his presence alone was valuable. Another voice will need to step up to replace Kershaw.
In his last season with the Dodgers, Kershaw ended up making 22 starts and appearing in 23 games. He went 11-2 with a 3.36 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 2.4 K/BB ratio, and 112.2 innings of work completed.
Whatever comes next for him, he’ll always be a Los Angeles legend. Kershaw’s name is not going to be forgotten by baseball fans anytime soon.
