Interactive exhibit “Music” will celebrate percussive instruments and sounds of East Asian cultures. The exhibit will open at the expERIEnce Children’s Museum on Jan. 24. The museum will be open until May 10.
The exhibit will allow guests to move and perform while focusing on percussion from Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cultures. Traditional instruments and sounds will be available, and mirrors will be mounted to inspire guests to dance and move while the music is played.
The exhibit will highlight a Chinese gong, hanging chimes, a Japanese taiko drum, traditional singing bowls, guests can perform on the K-pop stage, and more.
The “Music” exhibit was created by the Freeman Foundation who collaborated with the Association of Children’s Museums and the Fredda Turner Durham Children’s Museum. The project began as part of the Freeman Foundation Asian Culture Exhibit Series allowing children to learn and understand Asian cultures. The tour is presented by the Minnesota Children’s Museum.
Admission for the exhibit is included in the general admission which is $12 per person ages 1 to 101. Any museum members get in free. Tickets can be purchased online here or at the front desk.
