Call for Concept Notes for Cultural Property Agreement Implementation Grants (CPAIG)
The CPAIG funding opportunity is open to Tunisian and U.S. institutions of higher education, Tunisian NGOs and public entities; public international organizations and governmental institutions; and U.S. non-profits.

Deadline: Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Tunis time

Tunis, January 12, 2026 ─ U.S. Embassy Tunis is pleased to announce the call for concept notes for the 2026 Cultural Property Agreement Implementation Grants (CPAIG) Program. The CPAIG is funded by the U.S. interagency Cultural Antiquities Task Force and supports the implementation of cultural property agreements between the United States and foreign governments, including Tunisia, as well as emergency import restrictions. Grants range from U.S. $25,000 to $150,000. Project implementation periods may range in length from one to three years. Submission deadline for concept notes is Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Tunis time. Proposals received after the deadline will not be considered.

1. Background on Cultural Property Agreement Implementation Grants:
CPAIG Program Background: Bilateral cultural property agreements protect American collectors from buying looted and trafficked cultural objects and disrupt the financing networks of terrorists, criminal gangs, and cartels. They also encourage legal sharing of cultural property for scientific, cultural, and educational purposes. Many embassies also leverage cultural property agreements to strengthen bilateral relations and law enforcement cooperation between the United States and other countries. The CPAIG program, established in 2020 in consultation with the interagency Cultural Antiquities Task Force (CATF), provides funding to support the implementation of cultural property agreements or emergency import restrictions. Projects should be designed to protect cultural property from looting, theft, and trafficking in addition to addressing clear needs in the country or region and supporting U.S. foreign policy objectives. Texts of the agreements are linked on the CHC’s website: https://www.state.gov/current- agreements-and-import-restrictions/

For more information and to apply for CPAIG funding for a project in Tunis, please contact U.S. Embassy Tunis’ Public Diplomacy team at:
PASTunisLargeGrants@state.gov.
