Mayor Helena Moreno issued a public apology to the local DJ community. This comes after comments made by CAO Joe Giarusso that some in the culture bearing community found offensive.
To them, it seemed to suggest they should work for free, in light of the budget crisis. After swift backlash, Moreno took to her social media to apologize.
She said that there was no offense meant by the comments and that as a councilperson, she authored the ordinance that local musicians get paid for city sponsored events.
She went on to say that the city is working on sponsorships to ensure local talent gets paid.
