SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The Sioux City Community School District has ordered a special closed session meeting for Monday, Jan. 5.
On the agenda is to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered.
After the closed session is adjourned, the board will take, “Action on Resignation of Superintendent Córdova.”
That’s according to the agenda sent to KTIV on Saturday, Jan. 3.

Dr. Córdova joined the District in July 2025. But started the school year on a leave of absence.
That leave of absence began Friday, Aug. 22. District officials could not comment on the reason for it, stating it was a personnel matter.
He returned from that leave of absence Thursday, Aug. 28.
On Monday, Nov. 10, the board announced Dr. Córdova had been placed on paid administrative leave.
According to the board, Dr. Córdova’s paid administrative leave started retroactively on Thursday, Nov. 6. The reason for the leave has not been made public.
He has remained on paid administrative leave for the last 8 weeks.
