At Provo High School, planning for life after graduation is an ongoing process supported by the school’s College & Career Center through events, campus visits, and application guidance.
That work was on display during Beyond High School Night, which brought students and families together with colleges, technical programs, and community partners. Representatives from universities, community colleges, and career training organizations answered questions about admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and workforce pathways. Families moved at their own pace, engaging in conversations aligned with their students’ goals.
The evening focused on clarity. Students considering four-year degrees, technical training, immediate employment, or mixed pathways found concrete next steps. Sessions also addressed college applications, FAFSA completion, and scholarship planning, with families encouraged to follow up through the College & Career Center. The night was a success, and yet, it’s only one example of how the Center works throughout the year.
During the first semester, Provo High students participated in on-campus college tours at Utah State University, the University of Utah, Weber State University, and Brigham Young University. Walking campuses, sitting in information sessions, and asking direct questions helped students compare environments and programs in ways brochures can’t replicate. Additional visits to Utah Valley University and Snow College are planned for next semester.
The Center also coordinated support during Utah College Application Week, when seniors received in-school help starting and submitting applications. Many students have already applied to colleges in Utah and beyond, positioning themselves for admissions decisions and scholarship consideration. Staff continue to assist students who are finishing applications, requesting transcripts, or checking application portals.
Financial aid remains a major focus. Students and families are encouraged to complete the FAFSA, which is required for several state programs, including the Utah Opportunity Scholarship and the First Credential Scholarship. College & Career Center staff provide one-on-one help for families navigating the process.
For personalized guidance on applications, financial aid, and post-high school planning, students and families should contact their College & Career Center counselors before key deadlines arrive.
