Great things happen when families and schools work together—and Los Lobos Guardianes is a shining example of that partnership at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary.
Thanks to the collaboration of Principal Nikki Sirko and Family Outreach Liaison Abbey Scotese, a new Spanish-speaking parent group—Los Lobos Guardianes—has come to life. The group’s mission is to empower parents and guardians with the knowledge and confidence to help their students succeed, while building a strong and welcoming school community.
Los Lobos Guardianes focuses on three main goals:
- Creating a warm, welcoming environment for Spanish-speaking families.
- Helping families learn how to support their students both at home and at school.
- Partnering with the PTO to encourage parent involvement and bring meaningful Latinx cultural perspectives to school events and activities.
This fall, families have learned about the importance of school attendance, explored extracurricular opportunities for students, and discovered how teachers, class placements and intervention classes work at Arapahoe Ridge.
Even more exciting, Los Lobos Guardianes has already made a visible impact on our school community. A wonderful team of six women—Erika Ramirez, Lupita Carrillo, Giselle Jaramillo, Alejandra Dominguez, Isela Duron, and Nancy Camarena—came together to create a beautiful Día de los Muertos ofrenda and cultural learning display in the ARE Library with Digital Media Tech Erika McCormack. Their creative project didn’t stop there—they made the ofrenda portable and shared it at the PTO’s Trunk or Treat event, adding color, culture, and community spirit to the celebration.

With the growth of Los Lobos Guardianes, the future at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary feels brighter than ever. This amazing group is helping families connect, celebrate culture, and make our wolf pack even stronger!
Special thanks to the Arapahoe Ridge Elementary community for submitting this Five Star Story.
