INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Veteran entrepreneurs are set to showcase their innovative construction companies at a free event on November 18 in Indianapolis, highlighting how military skills translate into business success.
The event, organized by VentureVets, will feature five veteran-led construction companies that are modernizing the industry. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Andrea Sloan, president of Groundbreakers Hydrovac, and other veteran founders who are leveraging their military experience to drive innovation in construction.
“This is really interesting because I understand there’s about 13% of military vets that transition,” said Courtney Zaugg, Managing Partner of VentureVets. “It’s the mentality and the skill set that they garner in the military that actually makes them effective in this industry.”
The event will take place at Invst, located at 3625 East 96th Street, Indianapolis, from 5 to 7 PM. It is open to the community, offering a chance to network with veteran entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
The showcase will include presentations from the Construction Cohort Graduates, featuring companies like BRAVO Companies, Visual Construction Services, Wolfpack, and Storm Contracting. These businesses exemplify how veterans are not just building companies but also transforming the future of construction.
Courtney Zaugg, whose husband is a Marine Corps veteran, co-founded VentureVets to ease the transition for veterans into entrepreneurship. The program focuses on supporting veterans and military spouses in building successful businesses.
The event underscores the significant impact veterans can have on industries like construction, bringing discipline and leadership skills honed in the military to civilian business ventures. As Courtney Zaugg notes, the initiative aims to connect veterans with opportunities and resources to thrive in their post-military careers.
