The Redding Rancheria’s Stillwater Powwow is taking place this weekend at the Redding Rodeo grounds.
This is the 32nd year of the Powwow. The three-day event features art, music, and cultural displays.
Dancers from across the United States and Canada compete for prize money totaling more than $15,000.
“It’s an event that the tribe has always been a part of and it is something bringing the native community together,” said Redding Rancheria Chair Jack Potter.
“All the vendors here, like this young man right here — he’s a Pit River tribal member and he does traditional California-style jewelry.

“It’s a way to showcase the artists and get their work out there to let people know that our culture is still alive and thriving,” added Potter.
About ten thousand people attend the event each year. The Powwow continues on Sunday with the Grand Entry beginning at 1:00 p.m.
