Do you think it’s only your skin that ages? Your nose does too – it droops, widens, and changes shape over time. But what if you could train it, just like a muscle? Vibhuti Arora, the founder of House of Beauty India and facial yoga expert shows us a simple facial yoga move to counter nose aging. But does it work? We found out.
First, let’s understand what face yoga is
Face yoga is a natural practice that involves doing exercises for the face and neck to tone the muscles, reduce wrinkles and fine lines, and improve circulation. It is based on the principle that the muscles in the face respond to exercise just like the muscles in the rest of the body. Many people claim that it can help to improve the appearance of the face, reduce stress, and promote relaxation.
What’s facial yoga for the nose?
Dr. Geeta Grewal, Cosmetologist, Founder of 9Muses Wellness Clinic told indianexpress.com that facial yoga for the nose includes a combination of muscle exercises and techniques of massage, either by using finger tips or some tools such as gua sha or rollers, to enhance the blood circulation, toning of nasal muscles and tissue relaxation.
“These enable slowing down the aging process, when it comes to the nose, such as dropping of nose tip, widening of nostrils or deepening laugh lines,” she said. But aging process is on a deeper level that is at the level of maxillary support because nose gets weaker and bone resorption happens.

What are the exercises people do?
1. Finger Lift & Press: Use your index finger to gently push up the tip of your nose, smile, and hold for 5–10 seconds. This engages the muscles.
2. Nostril Flaring/Wiggling: Helps strengthen nasal muscles and improve circulation.
3. Pinch & Smooth: Gently pinch the bridge of your nose with your fingers and smooth it downwards—stimulates lymphatic drainage.

4. Massage with a Roller or Gua Sha: Glide along the nose bridge and sides to depuff, improve blood flow, and give a sculpted look.
5. Circular Massage at the Base: Using fingers or a tool, massage the sides of the nostrils in small circles to relax muscles and prevent sagging around laugh lines.
Does it actually help counteract aging?
“Massaging and slowing down aging are directly related to each other because by improvement in the blood flow, skin tends to look fresh, less puffy and also more contoured temporarily. But they cannot reshape the nasal cartilage or stop the natural aging process,” she explained.
With age, Dr Grewal said there is bone resorption (thinning and shrinkage) of the midface skeleton. “The bony nasal aperture widens, especially at the pyriform aperture (the pear-shaped bony opening of the nose). Since these are skeletal changes, they cannot be corrected by external massage, rollers, or facial yoga,” she added.

However, she pointed out that massaging is just a natural way of giving a boost to the skin health and delaying its sagging, but it cannot substitute medical or aesthetic skin treatments if your aim is dramatic changes.
Let’s give realistic solution not false hopes with these fake solutions. In short, everything can not be fixed with rollers.
