UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Rural and agricultural community members, Medicare recipients, and health and social service workers interested in understanding changes to health insurance coverage in 2026 are encouraged to attend an upcoming Penn State Extension webinar.
“Health Insurance Coverage Updates: A Panel Discussion” will occur from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 4.
Federal changes are reshaping health insurance coverage and affordability for 2026. Many Pennsylvanians, especially those in rural and agricultural communities, may be affected, according to organizers.
The webinar will feature speakers from PENNIE, Pennsylvania’s health care exchange; Pennsylvania Medicare Education and Decision Insight, or PA MEDI; R&B Insurance, a partner with the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau; and Penn State Extension to help prepare participants for upcoming changes.
This session is designed to help currently enrolled members, new subscribers and those who support community members with PENNIE and Medicare enrollment to make informed decisions and connect with trusted resources. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during this live webinar.
Among other topics, the workshop will cover:
-
How new rules may affect premiums, eligibility and reporting requirements.
-
Required steps for health insurance enrollees during open enrollment to avoid penalties.
-
How these changes may uniquely impact rural and agricultural communities.
-
Where to find trusted support and resources and get questions answered by experts.
This event is offered at no cost to participants, but preregistration is required. Organizers encourage attendees to register by noon Dec. 4.
