BTS leader RM will deliver a keynote speech at the APEC CEO Summit in Gyeongju on October 29, marking the first time a K-pop artist has taken the stage at the prestigious global business forum.
According to the music industry on the 27th, RM is scheduled to speak from 3:05 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on the second day of the summit under the theme “Cultural and Creative Industries in the APEC Region and the Soft Power of K-Culture.” His address will be part of a special cultural session.
While details of his remarks remain under wraps, RM is expected to share insights from his experience as the frontman of BTS — the group that propelled K-pop to worldwide prominence — and to highlight the significance of K-Culture’s soft power in shaping global cultural trends. Fluent in English, he is anticipated to deliver his speech in English before an audience of international business and government leaders.
The APEC CEO Summit brings together heads of state and corporate leaders from 21 member economies to discuss transformative industries and emerging trends that are reshaping the global economy. This year’s theme is “Beyond, Business, Bridge.”
HYBE, the parent company of BTS’s label BigHit Music, is participating as a Diamond Sponsor, the highest sponsorship tier — and notably, the only entertainment company among the event’s sponsors. HYBE will operate a promotional booth at the Gyeongju Arts Center, introducing its global business network spanning the U.S., Japan, China, Latin America, and India. The company will also showcase achievements from its multi-label artists and display K-pop’s signature fan culture items, such as light sticks.
