The St. Demiana Coptic Orthodox Church is hosting its 16th annual Coptic festival this weekend, offering a vibrant celebration of culture and heritage. The festival, taking place Saturday and Sunday at 9200 White Lane in Bakersfield, promises a variety of activities and attractions for visitors.
Father Beshoy Dawood highlighted the main attraction which is hourly church tours. “We have a group of dedicated servants, as well as youth participating and sharing the heritage of the Coptic Orthodox Church.”
Visitors can also admire the church’s famous Coptic iconography, including icons of St. Peter and St. Paul, and scenes from the Holy Family’s journey through Egypt. “We share all the stops that the Holy Family went through in Egypt,” Father Beshoy explained.
