WEST HARTFORD, CT — The town is hosting a special forum for its elderly residents and their loved ones on Tuesday regarding future health care coverage for seniors and what they can do.
The West Hartford Senior Citizens Advisory Committee is hosting a “Community Forum for West Hartford Older Adults.”
It will take place Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bishop’s Corner Senior Center, 15 Starkel Road, West Hartford.
At 11 a.m. a presentation entitled “Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period: Why Shop?” will be hosted by Sara Mitchell, Medicare educator, Hartford HealthCare Integrated Care Partners.
Every year from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7th, Medicare-eligible individuals are able to make changes to their Medicare health plans for the following year to better meet their needs.
“Many find it challenging to sift through their options,” wrote the committee.
The presentation will address:
- How the annual enrollment period works and what to consider when shopping for a Medicare plan.
- What the Medicare Savings Programs are and who can benefit from them.
“Your specific questions can be addressed during the Q&A section of the presentation. All are welcome,” wrote the committee.
