PUNXSUTAWNEY — Thursday’s Career Woman during Punxsutawney Career Women’s Week is Frances “Fran” Clark.
Born and raised in Punxsutawney, she graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School and DuBois Business College.
“I am a member of the SS.C.D. Roman Catholic Church and the Tuesday Evening Rosary Group,” Clark said. “I am an administrative assistant who works for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Preferred Realty.”
Clark said that she supports the agents in the day-to-day operations of a busy real estate office.
“I work with a remarkable group of co-workers who make going to work enjoyable,” Clark said, adding that she worked at VAPCO Engineering, just outside of Punxsutawney, for over 23 years as a technical typist and administrative assistant.
Clark said that VAPCO Engineering provided engineering, permitting, surveying and geology services to the coal and gas industry, as well as to the public.
“During my career at VAPCO, we performed work for Powell & Associates Real Estate, and that is how I met Don Powell,” Fran said. “After the VAPCO office closed, I saw Don and told him that I was looking for another job and he told me to give him a call. I gave him a call the next day, went in to talk to him and was offered a job at Powell & Associates Real Estate.”
She said almost 10 years have passed, and she is glad she made that call.
