MEMPHIS. Tenn. – Keeping youth in the Mid-South healthy is what members of a Black Greek fraternity spent the weekend doing in Hickory Hill.
The Healthy Kids Clinic on Saturday also offered opportunities for children to have safe fun outdoors. Mental and behavioral specialists also participated to show the youth how to handle negative energy and channel it into something positive.
Members of the Sigma Lambda Lambda chapter of Omega Psi Phi wanted to not only teach these young people the importance of a healthy lifestyle but also show them.
“We are teaching students to be efficient and the essentials. We are starting with health and wellness. We’re also going to go to eating nutritious foods and meals. Build those things together so they can know there’s a lifestyle that can be built on those foundations,” Carlton McClelland of the local chapter of Omega Psi Phi said.
The fraternity also provided literacy classes for students to teach them the importance of investing and growing money.
