Iran’s Culture Minister Reacts to Controversial Move by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

WANA (Oct 11) – Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance has responded to the controversial act of María Corina Machado, the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who dedicated her award to former U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a post on X, Seyyed Abbas Salehi wrote: “Among the Nobel Peace Prize winners, alongside the usual political maneuvering, there were once enduring names: Albert Schweitzer, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Mandela, and others.

But for years, such names have vanished.

Once again, the mountain has labored and brought forth a mouse — a laureate who dedicated her prize to Trump!”

This reaction came after Donald Trump announced that María Corina Machado had dedicated her Nobel Peace Prize to him during a phone call.

The call took place only hours after the U.S. government criticized the Nobel Committee’s decision to award the Peace Prize to Venezuela’s opposition leader, describing it as a case of “politics over peace.”

Steven Cheung, a White House spokesperson, wrote on X: “President Trump continues to work toward peace agreements, ending wars, and saving lives. He has a humanitarian heart, and there will never be another person like him who can move mountains with sheer willpower. The Nobel Committee has shown once again that it prefers politics over peace.”

Trump: I Prevented 5 Wars, But Others Get the Nobel!

WANA (Jul 05) – The U.S. President has once again revealed his long-standing dream of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize—this time claiming he prevented five wars between various countries, yet the prize continues to be awarded to others.   Speaking at a rally in Iowa to celebrate the passing of what he called the “big, […]

The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced on Friday that the 2025 Peace Prize had been awarded to María Corina Machado, the leader of Venezuela’s opposition movement. The announcement came as Trump had been waging an extensive campaign to receive the award himself in recent months.

The U.S. president has been nominated several times for the Nobel Peace Prize but has never won. In a post on his Truth Social account, he wrote: “No, I’ll never get the Nobel Peace Prize — no matter what I do about major issues like Russia/Ukraine or Israel/Iran. But people know, and that’s enough for me.”

In recent months, several pro-Trump politicians — including figures in Pakistan and the U.S. — had endorsed him as a “peace candidate.” Pakistan, when making its nomination, called Trump a “true peacemaker,” but just one day later condemned the U.S. president after Washington bombed Iranian nuclear sites and violated international law.

Meanwhile, other international officials, including the head of the Ukrainian parliament’s foreign affairs committee, withdrew their endorsement, saying they had “lost confidence in Trump’s ability to broker a ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow.”

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded, according to Alfred Nobel’s will, to the person or organization that has made the greatest effort to promote “fraternity between nations” and the reduction of standing armies.
