A bunch of Utah County second graders took a trip to the farm this week, gaining unique insight into healthy living during Utah County Farm Field Days at North County Equestrian Center in Highland.
Sponsored by the Utah County Farm Bureau and Utah State University Extension, the event is designed to teach young grade schoolers about agriculture and healthy food.
The event was designed for youth in northern Utah County; students in southern Utah County have a similar event in the spring.
In all, more than 7,000 second graders get to experience unique instruction Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with help from local Future Farmers of America students from Westlake High School. They learned about agriculture, where their food comes from and eating healthy.
