GREEN BAY (WLUK) — Twenty NWTC students will benefit from a popular heavy metal band’s grant program.
NWTC is one of the community colleges invited to join Year 7 of the Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI).
Supported by a $25,000 grant aimed at enhancing access to high-wage degree programs, 20 eligible NWTC students will gain vital financial support with scholarships of up to $1,000 each.
“We are truly honored and grateful to be part of the Metallica Scholars Initiative for the third consecutive year,” said Dr. Meridith Jaeger, executive director of the NWTC Foundation, which will be facilitating the scholarships. “Together, we are building thriving communities through workforce training and education. This grant will help students obtain degrees and family-sustaining careers in high-demand sectors of manufacturing, health care, human services, construction, IT, and transportation.”
All Within My Hands (AWMH), the non-profit, philanthropic organization created by the members and management of Metallica, recently announced its Year 7 of its Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) with its largest grant to date, totaling approximately $3 million. MSI now has a presence in 75 colleges across all 50 United States and the territory of Guam, and is expected to reach approximately 10,000 students.
