ROCHESTER, N.Y. – More than 50 schools from the Rochester area participated in the annual “ROC With Your Hands” career exploration event on Tuesday at the Rochester Community Sports Complex.
Students in grades seven through 12 explored hands-on career opportunities in advanced manufacturing, skilled trades, automotive technology, and heavy equipment.
“If our youth don’t know about the careers that are, have a pretty good line of sight to them when they leave high school, if they don’t want to go to college, we’re doing them a disservice, “said Rochester Works Executive Director Dave Seeley. “Educating them and providing them hands-on experience is so essential.”
The event featured more than 75 employers and was organized by the Rochester Technology & Manufacturing Association along with other community partners.
