University of Virginia Human Resources has launched a new initiative to help staff members across the University explore growth opportunities and plan their careers.
The Career Journeys website enables staff members to see how their position in one division or department compares to those in other areas, and shows how they can plan moves or advance.
“It introduces a clear and consistent way to organize most staff positions spanning the Academic Division, University Medical Center and College at Wise with a job classification framework that helps us better understand how each position – based on its type and level of work – relates to other positions across the University,” Merica Shepherd, senior director of Total Rewards for UVA Human Resources, said. “Career Journeys enables you to understand where your current role fits within UVA and explore where you might want to go next.”
The goal, Shepherd said, is to provide UVA staff with a thorough and clear career-planning approach so employees can prepare for the future.
