ALEDO, Ill. (KWQC) – The Mercer County superintendent is on administrative leave after being charged with illegally accessing student medical records.
The Mercer County School Board voted 6-0 to place Timothy Farquer on paid leave at the advice of legal counsel, according to a media release Friday afternoon.
The board appointed Alan Boucher and Scott Petrie to serve as interim superintendents, officials said.

“Our priority remains providing a stable, supportive environment for our students, staff, and families,” officials said in the release. “We are confident that with the leadership of Mr. Boucher and Mr. Petrie, Mercer County Schools will continue to thrive.”
Board members said they were committed to transparency as more information becomes available.
Farquer was arrested Wednesday and appeared in court for the first time on Thursday.
Two district IT employees, Amberly Norton and Andrea Long, were also charged, but their employment status is unknown.
Petrie is the former superintendent of Mercer County district.
Boucher also is a former superintendent for Mercer County until 2015 when he became superintendent for Sherrard School District from 2015-2022 and then was interim superintendent for Rock Island-Milan School District in 2023.
