Students, staff and faculty members from Penn State’s College of Education share recent research and career achievements.
- A recent news story on abc27 News (WHTM) highlighted the College of Education’s Teaching ESL with Ecuador Immersion Program. The piece grew out of a Development Office connection and features Penn State’s work supporting English language learning and cultural exchange in Ecuador.
- Sophia L. Ángeles, assistant professor of multilingual education, wrote an article, “’What Do You Know? Well, the Truth, Not a Lot’: Newcomer Youth’s Constrained College Access,” published in Journal of Latinos and Education.
- Erica Frankenberg, professor of education and demography, co-authored two recent briefs for Advanced Equity: “Staffing gaps in U.S High Schools, 2013 – 2021 What has changed for schools with high Black and Hispanic enrollment?” and “Who is labeled as Gifted? Trends and Patterns over the last Decade in US Public Schools.”
- May Lee, assistant teaching professor of education, has been named by Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) as one of 15 recipients of the 2025 Faculty Engagement Awards with this year’s theme of “Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Teaching including Microsoft Copilot 365.” Recipients will collaborate with TLT to experiment with AI-driven tools to support course planning, content design and instructional delivery.
- Dylan Paré, assistant professor of education, is among the Teaching and Learning Technologies Faculty Advisory Committee members for the 2025-26 academic year. The committee is pivotal in guiding the integration of technology within teaching and learning at Penn State.
