Outdoors enthusiasts are now getting a tax-free opportunity to buy gear for many outdoor activities, including firearms.
Residents can purchase a wide range of hunting, fishing, and camping gear tax-free as part of the state’s Hunting, Fishing, and Camping Sales Tax Holiday.
The program runs now through Wednesday, December 31, 2025,
Qualifying items include firearms, ammunition, bows and crossbows, and related accessories such as holsters, sights, and quivers. For campers and anglers, the exemption covers essentials like bait and tackle ($5 or less, or $10 if sold as a set), flashlights and lanterns ($30 or less), camping stoves, hammocks, sleeping bags, and collapsible chairs ($50 or less), rods and reels ($75 or less, or $150 as a set), and tents priced at $200 or less.
The holiday applies to in-store, online, and even layaway purchases, so long as the qualifying items are bought before Dec. 31.
Rain checks issued during the period do not qualify unless redeemed before the holiday ends.
